About
Did you know at The Hot Rock...
Our flour is proudly 100% New Zealand grown and milled in the South Island from pure non-GM wheat.
For taste and quality, the tomatoes used in our pizza and pasta sauces are 100% Rotondo di Parma from Emilia Romagna and neighbouring regions in Italy.
For our salad greens we source up to ten varieties of the freshest herbs and lettuces that are grown right here in Nelson.
We use only local free-range eggs. Our pork fillet is free range, our chicken breast and lamb are sourced fresh and our fish is hot smoked naturally in-house.
Where possible, we create everything on our premises – our dough, home-made fresh pasta, sauces, dressings and desserts!
For your health, we don’t add any chemicals or preservatives, (you know, those things you see on other food labels with numbers after them), in our recipes. We don't add MSG and none of our ingredients contain MSG.
We love supporting local artisan producers by selecting products from NZ King Salmon, Fresh & Fancy Salads, Blackball Salami Factory, Kakariki Olive Oils, ViaVio A2 Dairy, Little River Estate Dairy, Zumo Coffee Roasters and our own organic gardens.
Our award-winning wines are carefully chosen from the best local vineyards and on tap are beers craft-brewed in Nelson, home of New Zealand Hops, as well as Peroni from Italy.
We specialise in Gluten-Free, Lactose-Free, Vegan and Vegetarian options. Please let us know if you have any food allergies, dietary requirements or questions.
Our recipes have been expertly refined by our Italian Executive Chef who has over twenty years’ Italian restaurant experience.
We care for our planet – we use recyclable packaging where possible and we try to minimise our waste by recycling glass, paper, cardboard, cans and plastics.
Like most hospitality people, we work hard and we’re proud of what we produce for you, our guest.
Locally owned and operated, The Hot Rock opened on Boxing Day 2002. We trust you will enjoy your experience.
